There are many types of corporate events, each with their own unique objectives and target audiences. There are many different types of corporate events, but some popular ones include conferences, launch events, open days, awards ceremonies, trade shows and exhibitions, employee days and corporate milestone celebrations.
Corporate Events are put together for reasons such as:
- Building and/or maintain relationships with employees, customers or clients
- Increase Brand Awareness
- Reward staff or customers
- Celebrate Corporate Milestones
When planning a corporate event, it is important to first identify your target audience for example are you planning your event for your employees to reward them for reaching a milestone for example or are you planning an event to attract new customers.
Once you have identified your target audience, set objectives for the event. These corporate event objectives could be anything from strengthening relationships with clients to launching a new product or service.

- Firstly, allocate a corporate event budget so that you know how much money you have to work with.
The budget may be determined by management or you may have an unlimited budget in which to work with, either way it would be wise to put together a list of your expected costs so you have a plan of where you costs will be and try to stick to that as much as possible.
- Secondly, put together a corporate event team who will be responsible for different aspects of the event planning and execution.
Each team member should have experience in their relevant event team role and be fully briefed on their role and objectives within the team. Team meetings should be held on a regular basis to go through any issues that arise and these problems should be dealt with promptly to avoid them causing delays further down the line.
- Thirdly, identify your Corporate event date, check this against any other corporate events that may be taking place and make sure the venue is available on your required date.
Once you have confirmed the corporate event date, begin planning the event in more detail.
- Fourthly, start sourcing suppliers for things like catering, entertainment, décor, etc. Get quotes from different suppliers so that you can compare the services that they offer as well as their prices.
Make sure to have a signed contract from each supplier before they begin working on your event so that there is no confusion and everyone knows what is expected of them.
- Fifthly, create a timeline for the day of the event and make sure all team members are aware of it.
This will help to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day and that nothing is left to chance.
- Finally, after the event has taken place ensure you have a full event debrief with all team members involved. This will help to identify any areas that could be improved for future events. corporate event planning can be a lot of work but with careful organisation and by following these tips, you can ensure that your event is a success!
