What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to provide a quote, we would need the event name, type, date, location, start and end time of the event, the estimated number of guests or footfall, the location of the pitch, where the unit would stand, the type of food required and the pitch fees or budget for the cost of the service.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Every mobile caterer should be registered with their local council and have had a food hygiene inspection so you can be assured of their quality standards, they should also have public liability insurance, risk assessments and at least level 2 food safety certification. Look at the setup, the food offered, the service and whether you will be charged setup/travel fees or any extras for sides or condiments. Consider what sort of look are you going for, do you want a modern or vintage looking van or trailer or would a gazebo be more suitable? Does this fit in with the theme you have in mind for your event? Get a good look at the food – check out the mobile caterer’s Add to Event profile, their own website and social media, if you are not sure just ask for more photos so you can make an informed choice, event and wedding food is so vital so invest a bit of time getting this part right. Check that your guests can be served in the time you require and overcome any doubt by researching your mobile caterer, check their reviews and see what past clients have said and ask questions if you need to.

Running our own business was once just a dream, it was always something we wanted to do but then life took over. The opportunity arose when we were made redundant from our jobs and we have never looked back! It has changed our lives and it is amazing to travel around and cater to so many events meeting so many lovely people!
