Wedding Insurance Can Help You Recover Costs For Losses And Damages
But Is It Worth Taking Out A Policy?
Let Us Help You Decide.....
Insurance is one of those things, you can buy insurance to cover almost anything nowadays like Your Life, Cars, Houses, Mobile Phones, Pets, Washing Machines and so on, there are hundreds of Insurance Providers and many choices available on the market.
Wedding Insurance is no different and being such a big day that you will spend so much money on it is worth spending a bit of time considering whether you would benefit from taking out a Wedding Insurance Policy .
I realise that there will be a negative view about Wedding Insurance Policies at the moment, the COVID19 Pandemic has hit many Wedding Couples this year who were due to get married and unfortunately reading the news many Wedding Policies did not cover these circumstances and Wedding Couples missed out as they couldn't make a claim so people will wonder whether they are worth buying.
But these are exceptional times.
Let me share a personal story with you....
A few years ago my husband and I planned to get married, we had a big wedding in mind you know the thing....lots of guests, big reception, expensive dress and the honeymoon of our dreams. We were working at the time and had a fairly big budget to spend so everything was good then things changed at work and we both got made redundant...BOOM that was the end of our big wedding plans. Thankfully we had taken out a Wedding Insurance Policy and it covered redundancy so we managed to recover some of the payments we had made to Suppliers, we did not recover all of our money but some so that was really helpful. About a year later we did get married but kept it small, cheap and intimate so we could spend more on the Honeymoon :)
We made the right decision when we purchased the Wedding Insurance Policy, we had no idea we were going to made redundant as this was completely out of our control.
So what the advantages to buying a Wedding Insurance Policy?
It will give you peace of mind
Lets's be frank here many things can wrong in life and your Wedding Day is no different, by taking out a Wedding Insurance Policy you will have a bit of more relaxed with the thought of something happening on your day or before your big day, whilst you won't be covered for anything you knew about in advance or if you change your mind and decide to cancel you should get a fair amount of coverage for things that would be outside of your control like Redundancy, Suppliers letting you down or accidents on the day.
The Policy cost is just a small percentage of your Wedding Bill
A Wedding Insurance Policy costs such as small amount of money they can start from £20-£30 and when you compare this to the total amount your Wedding it is a no brainer.
Think about it, you could spend tens of thousands on your Wedding Day so what is £20? You could spend that on a few drinks in a pub or on a takeaway!
It Helps if you don't pay for items with your Credit Card
Under the Consumer Credit Act you are able in some circumstances to claim back for payments made on your Credit Card, so if you are paying for things by bank transfer or using cash you have another level of protection with your Wedding Insurance Policy.
Your Wedding might not be covered by your House Insurance
Don't just assume that your House Insurance covers your Wedding, there are indeed some insurance policies that can be extended in this way but on the whole they will not cover this.
Do Your Research....
Make sure you complete your research to see exactly what the Wedding Insurance Policy covers, there are a large number of policies on offer and whilst there will be standard terms and conditions there might be differences in providers or extras that you add on to the policy.
Get your timing right when you take out a policy, some providers will allow up to 2 years before your Wedding date and they may also accommodate changes to dates.
So I've convinced you and you have decided to go ahead and get a policy so how do you find a Wedding Insurance Policy you might ask? Well think of it like Car Insurance as well as direct Wedding Insurance Providers there are many comparison websites that would be useful in your search, following are some examples;
